Ghostbuyers is a consultation service created by Joe Foster, a longtime advocate for independent bookstores.

Joe began his bookselling career as the buyer at Maria’s Bookshop in Durango, CO. Known for his sharp instincts and strategic approach, he taught the first-ever “How to Be a Buyer” session at one of the earliest Winter Institutes, and served on the Board of Directors for the Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association.

In 2010, Joe joined Edelweiss. Over the next 15 years, he played a key role in the platform’s growth, contributing across support, education, documentation, webinars, videos, and internal systems. He led the support team and directed education efforts for booksellers, publishers, and librarians across the country.

With more than 20 years in the book industry, Joe has spoken at dozens of conferences, presented hundreds of webinars, and supported thousands of professionals, always with the goal of helping people do things better.

His deep love of bookstores and belief in their cultural importance led him to create Ghostbuyers. Through this work, Joe hopes to help as many stores as possible build sustainable, efficient, and successful processes.

Because every great bookstore deserves a great buyer.
